Come see what a self-governed, sustainable neighborhood looks like in person. On Saturday, November 14th 10AM-12PM we’re opening our courtyard for a public tour at Urban Soil / Tierra Urbana, our limited-equity housing cooperative at the Los Angeles Eco-Village.
Here’s what you’ll get to do:
–Learn how our co-op works. Members will explain how shared ownership, consensus decision-making, and our partnership with the Beverly-Vermont Community Land Trust keep housing permanently affordable.
–Explore the garden. The cooler weather is a great time to see what’s growing in our courtyard. We’ll walk through the cool-season crops and talk about how members tend the garden together.
–Meet our resident artist, Federico Tobin. Hear from Federico about making art in a close-knit community and how the co-op shapes his work.
–Taste something from the solar oven. One of our members will be cooking a snack in our member-built solar oven, so you can see how it works and try the results.
Whether you’re curious about cooperative housing, thinking about joining a community like ours, or just want to see a garden growing in the middle of the city, we’d love to meet you.
We hope to see you in the courtyard
The tour is free but donations are appreciated.
