Instead of decisions being made by a single leader or small group, residents participate directly in shaping the policies, priorities, and everyday life of our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the tools we use to make decisions together is <strong>Consensus Decision\u2011Making<\/strong>. Consensus is a collaborative process where community members discuss an issue openly and work toward a solution that everyone can support. The goal is not for every person to get exactly what they want, but for the group to arrive at a decision that is thoughtful, fair, and workable for the whole community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consensus encourages listening, patience, and mutual respect. Meetings are often facilitated to ensure everyone has a chance to speak and that discussions stay focused and constructive. Over time, this process helps build trust among neighbors and strengthens our ability to solve problems together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Self-governance also helps residents develop practical skills in communication, cooperation, and leadership. By participating in decisions that affect our shared spaces and resources, people become more invested in the wellbeing of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70)\">At Urban Soil Tierra Urbana, consensus is more than a meeting process\u2014it\u2019s part of our commitment to living in a way that values participation, shared responsibility, and collective care.
